The Story
The desire of a human heart dances on the delight of a person's stomach. For centuries the Spadicus family bloodline had coveted the secret art of pie backing, but the world is in peril as the demon realm seeks to pour in to possess and corrupt that human desire. Dante is out last bastion of hope against the demons who seeks to destroy whatever pies we hold dear. Will Dante bake for us or for the demons? The secret lies in the pies, but the devil are in the details.... "So the entire purpose behind Devil Ate Pie was to take something that I could comfortably work with and push my artistic and storytelling abilities to its very limits. The idea was conceptualized after consuming various media and research to produce a comic book feel while providing the stylistic appeal that is found in Devil May Cry. What started as a crude childish gimmick became a test of how far I can push my talents to create a visualistic storytelling art-piece. The art style was inspired from the black and white contrast that was used in Sin City where certains color depictions play an important role hitting certain story beats in it's narrative. This started as a purely experimental project while working hard to pull out those details with ink work and line-art adding minimum color and contrast overlay that will give it a sort of comic-noir dreamy atmosphere in it's dark gothic modern horror ambiance. There was a long pause in the project due to the lack of experience and recources to keep improving the comic visually until recently. New techniques and methods of producing satisfying visuals are constantly being utilized pushing this project further. Even the writing is tested as both action and comedy both being balanced in a horror setting. The most challenging is figuring out what constitutes as funny for the audience without leaving the humor too dated or saturate the comedy. There were other inspirations taken to create a sense of dark humor which have included, Sweeny Todd: Demon Barber, Blade, Supernatural, and other film media. This project is planned to only have 4 issues of story time to polish the content of creative material used to make this parody, therefore, keeping it short and sweet."
The Creator
Omar Peinado, naturally born in Louisiana, Cuban American. Had some crazy experiences with nightmares during his childhood. Though in his early life, Omar has a growing potential for creating things from perception and imagination. Skills and various art techniques were put in practice during many years of his education. Even after college, the learning never really stops which branched his art skills into various fields such as drawing, crafts, game development, just to name a few. His strong suit has always been traditional works, but it's never limited to only this. He doesn't restrict his focus to only one thing, but being a sort of jack of all trades in the art world to produce content to be shared and enjoyed by many. This is one of them.
What came about this project was from a memory of his favorite game demo that was released by Capcom for the Ps2. This came with a copy of Resident Evil: Code Veronica at the time and the memory of the gameplay of this demo was much darker than the actual game itself. That game was Devil May Cry. During the time when game magazines were big for teenagers who are into video games often provide the latest scoop or content based on the next coming game and Omar doodles a sketch in school regaling a funny skit that he had once read on his favorite game. After Christmas there wasn't any game he could get for his Ps2, the first Devil May Cry was his first. So from there after so many years drawn from a silly childish joke and his love for pies the comic Devil Ate Pie was born.

Devil Ate Pie is a fan-made parody web comic. The artist of this webcomic does not own the original story this parody is based on and it is not endorsed by Capcom. They reserve all the rights for Devil May Cry and the Devil May Cry video game series. This is a passion project that was made to demonstrate the artist's abilities while providing a fun visual read for it's intended audience. This also isn't made to make fun of the franchise nor is it used to disrespect it's original creators in any way. If anything, it is the artist way of celebrating his love for one of Capcom's most beloved game entries.
